The Well by David Hall

The Well

Confused, Huan peered down the well, a perfect circle of bricks plunging into dizzying darkness… Oblivion.
He doesn’t know how he got there.
He closes his eyes and sighs, and just like that, the world is spinning. ‘I have to give up the drinking’ he thinks to himself.
Suddenly eyes wide plunging headfirst, screaming, flailing.
Brick becomes dirt.
Bursting for the earth more and more hands grabbing, nails scratching, tearing clothes and ripping flesh.
A blood-curdling scream escapes his throat!

... Then just as sudden bright light, cool grass on skin, and covered in sweat.
‘I need help’
